If you buy art through me I make sure (for free) that the downstream bit works too which can make all the difference to how the work looks on the wall. Do not underestimate this. I advise (for free) on which framer you could use and then once we have selected them I work with that framer to select the right frame for the space. I lean heavily on their expertise but it is very much a collaborative process. Committed followers will spot a print from this same artist is framed in a different colour for a different client - because one size does not fit all and different interiors need different approaches. Once the works are framed, I arrange delivery and for me and my hanger to attend (you pay the hanger but my time is not charged) and we plan the hang together. I normally then bugger off and let the hanger work in peace without me breathing down his neck. Here are some shots resulting from that process that I was sent yesterday by the hanger. This has been a gorgeous but challenging project to work on from start to finish. The house is one of the most beautiful spaces I have worked with (@tracearchitects and @yamstudios) but it was so beautifully consistent it meant that it was unforgiving for any artwork that didn’t match its wonderfully high bar. Any silliness, frivolity or touch of trite was immediately shown up for what it was and so the gauntlet was laid down for art that complemented the interior without detracting from it. These two gorgeous collage works added a touch of colour whilst paying homage to the earthy tones and their curved and linear forms connected them to the space and the central light feature in particular. I was back at this house yesterday hanging some work and I have to say that it really does make my heart skip a beat every time I am there. So grateful for the best job in the world.
This lithograph by @carolinewalkerartist @enitharmon.editions looks gorgeous installed this morning in Spring’s morning light. The clients have a smart Clapham flat and it looked amazing with all their cool plants on the other side of the room. I love 💕.
There was a lot of discussion during my chat with @pipmccormac on the @livingetcuk house tours interview on Tuesday. Here is one I prepared earlier - back at a client’s house to do some tweaks and plan a second one. Sooooo lovely to see the dogs so chilled here - I love how art is the backdrop to family life. A gallery wall design costs £150 for a two hour consultation.

The achingly beautiful, restrained palette of the interior designer @colour_interiors_ltd asked for equally pared back artwork. And I think the client has chosen perfectly. Arrrrrrgh. SO embarrassing seeing oneself on screen. I was a bit confused about what this was. I hadn’t blow dried my hair, done my make up or chosen an outfit! I thought @livingetcuk wanted to shoot the house not actually film me but they did! So apologies for the wonky eyeliner and fluffy hair but if you want to poke around my house this is your chance. So many amazing artists are featured in my home - this is what I am proud of - to show how you can live with great and sometimes challenging work. Sometimes art isn’t the right choice for a space but a mirror is. Here are two absolutely gorgeous pink glass and aluminium vintage mid century ones that I sourced for a client. We added a skinny aluminium shelf to put post, lippy and mascara! The devil is in the detail 💋
I honestly think I have the best job in the world. I get to go to lovely clients houses (both the clients are lovely and their houses!) and get up close and personal with truly beautiful artwork. This huge @louisebalaam work is a thing of great beauty and it was wonderful to show it in a clients home. This is the kind of painting that looks good online but is absolutely stunning once it is on someone’s wall doing its thing. Paintings on walls emit feelings - they are not static flat things. And I loved how this painting made me feel. Thanks to @cadogan_contemporary for bringing a number of works for the clients to select from. I can mock up as many works as I like but nothing beats trying the work on the wall.
Did you know I can mock work up for you digitally on your wall so you can see how it looks? The first two photos here are the work actually on the wall and the third is the mock up I created to show the client how it would look. You can see we tweaked the actual hang to closer in the middle on day. This project involved me deep diving into the world of David Shrigley prints. With lots of dealers selling his work I created a spreadsheet to work out where my client could buy the work at the best price and through the most reputable channels. This is why I have honest art sourcing in my bio. I sleep well when things look amazing on my clients walls AND they were sensible buys for the clients. Sleeping well for me is what it is all about these days. And with results like this for the client I can sleep like a baby. ❤️❤️💙🖤
